Top 5 mindset shifts
To follow your heart & make money you’ll need to make some mindset shifts to ensure that you travel the full distance.
Along the journey of following your heart you’ll experience some incredible highs and you’ll also be faced with some pretty steep challenges. This isn’t to scare you but rather excite you. Each challenge holds an opportunity.
As soon as you can reframe your challenges into opportunities the quicker you’ll be able to make money from your creative spiritual ventures. All it takes is a mindset shift.
The biggest mindset shifts I’ve noticed in myself and my clients is shifting from the employee mind to the entrepreneur mind.
Here are the Top 5 mindset shifts
to support you in following your heart & making money.
#1.
Employee mind: I work for someone else.
Shift to…
Entrepreneur mind: My purpose is to realize my dream.
#2
Employee mind: Time = money.
Shift to….
Entrepreneur mind: Money is a result of clearly connecting my dream with the people seeking it.
#3
Employee mind: Us against them. I have to guard my ass.
Shift to…
Entrepreneur mind: My ass is in motion creating & connecting my dream with the world.
#4
Employee mind: My schedule is determined by my job description.
Shift to…
Entrepreneur mind: I create my job description.
#5
Employee mind: When I retire then I’ll follow my heart.
Shift to…

Good shifts for people to make! I especially like #5 because I think so many people put off happiness. Good motivation for them to change now!

Laura, absolutely great paradigms that people need to realize. I’ve spoken with many of my friends and colleagues out there about how such shifts in thinking are needed when you start your own business. Just because you can work for a business doesn’t mean you are cut out to work on a business. However, for those with the passion and the drive to go the distance and turn challenges to comfort zones into opportunities for continued growth, many rewards await!!!
Okay, I’m gonna have to say it … I think another perfect title for your blog entry should be “Holy Epiphanies, Batman! Top 5 mindset shifts”

Laura,
I LOVE the mindsets that you share and so many people who are making the transition from employee to entrepreneur will appreciate this list. In fact, I think it will help them transition more smoothly into the life of their dreams. I love that as entrepreneurs we can create anything we put our minds to. It truly is a great time to be alive.
Write on!~

laura, such fantastic steps…
I just love how you remind us that challenges are really opportunities in disguise if we allow them to be.
Thanks for giving us the mindset shift tools to help us recognize them… very valuable..
I believe following your heart is also so essential on our path… We have to be true to ourselves and blaze a path that is aligned with our heart and spirit…
Thanks Laura

Laura, sounds like there is a lot of ‘soulset’ as well in these points! These need to be posted on a wall in every entrepreneur’s office.

Wonderfully succint reminders that it all comes down to mindset. As I teach my fitness training clients, the first step in making a lasting change (to a healthier lifestyle, launching a new business) is to change your mindset — make the decision, embrace that it is possible, and recognize that it is up to you. Good stuff!

Most of us commenting here are entrepreneurs. We “know” this intellectually, but it is truly great when we know this in our hearts…following our heart. Thank you for the reminder to listen more with my heart and less with my head, which is usually the “social” head! It’s usually only a 1/4 of a turn of the screw to change the perspective!

These are such excellent reminder I love love love number 3. This would make a nice plaque for those people who have difficulty understand the entrepreneurial mindset(usually they work for corporations). You know the ones who think the Entrepreneur’s job is over at 5 pm or because your home at home your not working. Good job.

Yes, Laura all of the above, as an artist there is also the mind-shift from Artists need to starve to be true artists to I make a good living creating art and sharing my passion!

Yes Cheryl that is a one of the big mindset shifts for artists.
Going from a starving artist to a thriving artist.
I hope to be part of the movement to put the belief that artists need to be starving into extinction!
It is completely un-necessary.

Hi Laura,
Awesome post – once again! You are so on target with all 5 mindset shifts required to be a successful entrepreneur. I think it was Henry Ford who said ” do what you love and you will never work a day in your life” – or something like that!

You’re really singing my tune, Laura. Being an entrepreneur is not for everyone, simply because those that think w/ the employee side of their brain are not willing or aware enough to open up to the possibilities of the entrepreneur side of their brain. If they’re lucky though, one day they’ll meet someone who enlightens them and allows them to go places they never thought possible, probably someone like you. Great post!

Great post! I love #2 Time = Money. This was a great reminder that Time is time and Money is money! And of course, #5 “Now is the time to follow my heart”… no time like the present.
Thanks!

Wow, what a great list of mindset shifts! I love it! Thanks for posting Laura!

Laura, I love your “phraseology”. As someone who works from a psychology background I constantly work on limiting beliefs with my clients! Shift the mind that the world needs to shift too!
My favorite shift for employees, JOB versus career.

Laura – Love #3!
Actually, all of them are very, very good…
I would add another mindset shift (although probably not as eloquently as you did it):
Employee mindset: Spending money to improve myself or my surroundings is an expense that should be held off as long as possible.
Entrepreneur mindset: INVESTING in my most valuable business asset is a top priorty
Best,
Phil
