The Black Fairy

The Black Fairy, also known as the Shadow Goddess.
Along the path of creating your True Dream you are likely to come across The Black Fairy. She is the one who recognizes the beauty of your shadow side. She is comfortable with the dark side because she knows it offers tremendous gifts.
When you are in the early growth stages of your dream, there is a sort of detox process that happens. All the thoughts, beliefs, habits and patterns that are not in alignment with your True Dream come to the surface to be cleansed.
Usually the first reaction is to ‘get rid of’ them or try to pretend they aren’t really you, or think something positive to avoid the real feeling. Every time you do this you deny a part of yourself and reject the gifts being offered to you. This creates a separation and disconnects you from your True Dream.
This is when The Black Fairy flutters her wings and says….
It isn’t about ignoring your shadow. It isn’t about pretending not to be negative. It isn’t about trying to get rid of your dark side.
It is about learning how your shadow communicates with you. It is about receiving the gifts being offered to you. It is about including your whole Self and moving forward.
Here are 5 insights from The Black Fairy to help you on the path of creating your True Dream….
1. If you are feeling afraid, do you need to take better care of yourself?
2. If you are feeling angry, do you need to set clear boundaries in your life?
3. If you are feeling overwhelmed, do you need to take the time to get organized?
4. If you are feeling powerless,do you need to take a deep breath and remember who you really are?
5. If you are feeling lost and confused, do you need to get clear about your True Dream?

I was reading the energy of a women the other day and I told her she was headed into the darkness, that the wings of an angel were flapping. What you just wrote about was exactly what I felt in this woman but didn’t have the words to say or allow her to totally make sense like what you wrote here.
Now I know where she was in her journey.
Thanks for the clarity”)
I will let her know about your blog. You rock!!

This has been me for about a month or so. And I’m glad to say, rather than fight it – that is this shadow – I’ve embraced it. I have not given in to fear or anger, but I have acknowledged my feelings. I understand my frustration and anxiety as valid parts of me, not as enemies.
I feel stuck, but like I have to be at this point in my creative journey. I want to paint and draw far more than I am, but realize I need to feel what I’m feeling in order to move forward. All of this is bringing a deeper sense of self and allowing me to face a part of me that makes certain ‘dark’ images practical.
Thanks for posting this! Your work is so impressive!

Wonderful insights about connecting to the black fairy. It’s true that we need to acknowledge our darker side to be whole.

Beautifully put, Laura!! I so agree that ALL our feelings and our emotions — bright/shiny as well as painful/dark are ALL a part of our Divine Guidance System, to be celebrated for all the information they have to offer us! Thank you for shedding YOUR light on the Shadow Goddess! XO Katherine

I love this, totally. I see so many people avoid and deny their shadow side, in which case it rears up to bite them when they try to move forward with life. You have actually made the shadow beautiful in this photo. Awesome!

Hi Laura,
This is really helpful. Paying attention to those feelings and then figuring out what they are trying to tell you about your path makes so much sense to me.
Thanks so much for sharing!

Your photos are so amazing! I love relating this phenomenon to a black fairy — it makes it seem more concrete, more like I can wrap my head around the problem and move forward. Thanks again for your inspiration! -Carmen

How inspiring Laura, to tell a story and paint such a gorgeous image for us to actually have fun with our imaginations while learning about our Shadow side, what it means and how to use it. Miraculous. Love it.

Laura, you rock!! This was such an eloquent way to describe the shadow -and you are so right – it is important to acknowledge it and embrace it as an aspect that can lead us to more growth…rather than shoving it aside, where it will undoubtedly wreak havoc in our lives!

Laura,
Beautiful photo and thanks for sharing your shadowy thoughts. I think we all go through this from time to time and being able to embrace ourselves in our entirety is so important. Have you watched the Shadow Effect? Great film.
Write on!~

Laura,
Once again, you have captivated my imagination and soothed my soul with your creativity and profound words. I never though of the experience of my “dark side” in such terms before. But my own growth process has brought me to a place where I listen carefully to my shadowy thoughts as a critical part of my Divine Guidance System (as Katherine CHE, so wonderfully put it). I think this is similar also to the concept of Yin and Yang and how, in order to be complete, we must find balance. See? You have me in deep thought! I love your art/photos/posts! Brilliant stuff!

This is fabulous, Laura! The Black Fairy reminds me of MOON SIGNS in astrology. We all have a dark side, a side that we often are afraid to reveal … even to ourselves.
Thanks for giving us permission to let our shadow speak to us in powerful, life-affirming ways.

The Black Fairy is WAY cuter than Darth Vader (and much more persuasive in getting me to embrace my “Dark Side”)…
Another fabulous photo and powerful post, Laura…thanks!

Laura!
Such a great reminder that the ‘negative’ can give us clues and cues to access something very positive.
