I love cranio sacral therapy, I also love shiatsu, and singing making sounds to move internally with vibration, I’m a dancer so I dance and move all the time…

I practice lymphatic drainage on myself. This is very important, especially for women, to prevent and eliminate build up particularly around the breasts. If you can find someone to do Polynesian massage and/or lymphatic drainage on you, you will really be treasuring your body!

I covet my self time. One of the ways I seize those precious moments is to celebrate the glory of the night. I lay out under the stars, watch the night sky, listen, smell and intently feel the night air. Every full moon I do something even more radical; I dance under her splendor, even for a few minutes, to feel her full waxen strength fully coat my body and soul. Very rejuvenating, centering, very ME.

Just last evening I attended a lecture in the serene backyard of my acupunturist’s home. Dr. Kwong showed us how to apply accupressure for “natural oriental facelift and skin rejuvenation benefits.” She professes this technique will outdo all the creams in the world! It IS very relaxing and the mirror tells me this morning I look better already!

Thanks so much for the post! I’ll be the first to admit, I tend to put myself last anytime things start to get busy for me. I’ve definitely been guilty of doing that lately. This is a good reminder that I can’t truly help others if I don’t help myself. Alot of these I’ve not heard of, except for rolfing. I have a friend who did it and loved it, but it’s not common in my area and very expensive.

When I’m doing what I’m supposed to (hangs head in shame), I do the following:

    Yoga
Practice clean/natural eating (I eat real food & cook from scratch, short answer)
    Exercise about 5x/wk
    Drink lots of water
    Meditate
    Epsom & sea salt baths

I really need to get back into neti-pots, especially with allergy season coming up. I’ve never tried the things mentioned above for the most part, but the oil pulling sounds interesting.

I see a pattern here. Is there eight videos in this series? Will the next one be light blue?

Thank you so much for your inspiring posts and videos, Laura. This week’s love offerings are especially delicious. I love “nothing time” and incorporate it into my schedule every week. Sometimes I just sit in my bed and look through magazines for a whole morning. I also love to take time in the morning to write poetry. I have done several of your other recommended exquisite self-care practices over the years, including Rolfing, which changed my life in the 1980s! I use the neti pot for managing seasonal allergies and will be returning to Bikram Yoga. The most exquisite self-care practice that I am currently giving myself and my body is a life-changing opportunity for everyone! For the last six weeks I have been drinking a nutritional shake that has allowed me to drop 20lbs in six weeks. This product called The Perfect Shake, is an exquisite way to get all of the best support for my body’s deep nutritional needs and supports proper function of all my cells and therefore my organs, as well. The first time I drank The Perfect Shake, it felt as if light was filling my body. That was quite an experience! I am also finally able to get the correct balance of nutritional supplement support for my body, customized for my individual DNA, based on a genetic analysis report. Not only is my body in balance and harmony unknown to me for most of my life, but my brain is functioning at a new level of efficiency which is thrilling! My moods are balanced and I feel energetic, calm and ready to rock and roll in the morning! Oh, yes, the name of the company that offers these amazing products is foru (say FOR YOU). I am looking forward to using the skin care products next month, also customized to my DNA! Feel free to contact me for more information!

I do my best to always get enough sleep. This more than anything makes a huge difference in my energy. And then, paying attention to my needs, and making sure I get whatever I need WHEN I need it – not putting things off. Yoga, bouncing on my mini-trampoline to my favorite music, singing, dancing, spending time outside, and especially spending time near water. These things nourish me.

Exquisite care is a wonderful subject.

I love doing things as simple as hiking with a nourishing green juice beverage or
Taking an afternoon nap on the weekends.

One of my favorites though is facial threading, to remove unwanted facial hair
    That increases in midlife.
Facial threading is a very gentle process, that leaves your skin looking vibrant
And glowing. It’s is practice in many cultures around the world, and much
More natural than using hot wax.

Thank you for the wonderful tips Laura.

Love your radiance Laura!! Your Number 1 – Nothing Time – is similar to mine – “Stopping the World” – when we stop the world we can see where we’ve been, what’s been created, what we no longer wish to experience and where we wish to go from here. I also enjoy spending as much time as possible in the sunshine – letting myself RECEIVE – without any blockers – I believe a judicious dose of natural sunlight DAILY is essential to my well being – even on rainy days – I like to remember that the sun is right there behind the clouds and I am still receiving it’s radiance. Finally BODYWORK is a powertool in my arsenal of self care – as creators we spend quite a lot of time in our mental bodies – sometimes our physical bodies can be neglected because we are “Burning HOT” with a new idea or vision – that’s actually for me one of the most important times of all to get grounded in my body – after many rounds of BURN HOT that led to BURN OUT I got exquisitely clear that bodywork (including yoga, regular exercise outdoors, massage, cranio sacral therapy and HUGS!!!!) is a key to vitality for me!

I love dancing, yoga, and running and being in nature. Are necessities to being a more vibrant me:). The most unusual thing would probably be Abhyanga.

  12. Comment by Lorinda

I get monthly acupuncture to keep my body and cycle in sync. I used to wait until things were out of whack before making an appointment, but I’ve learned that regular treatments save me from having to go to that place of unwellness and make the treatments themselves much more comfortable. Can’t wait to check out some of the links above. Thanks Laura!

I love nothing time as well and call it my quiet time either reflecting or just breathing and letting go of thoughts. my favourite self care is my fortnightly massage. i also love visualising and take myself on little or large imaginary adventures in my mind as I lie on my yoga mat or on the guest bed or my bed. I cannot travel far in real life so I love going on my imaginary adventures all over the universe with all sorts of companions or alone. i love it.

I ask my body what it needs, daily, in terms of food and exercise. For a while I practiced giving myself the things I thought I was only “allowed” to have or do with others or when given by others. Now, this comes quite naturally and I really enjoy little things like treating myself to lunch or just going to the library for new books and then reading my book and having a cup of tea in the library cafe afterwards. I also love nothing time and I love having developed the inner strength NOT to do things that I really don’t want to do. Often, self-care for me is not so much about doing more, but about refusing to do the things that would impact me negatively.

I Love having a hot stone massage it is so relaxing and nurturing for your spirit and body.

I’ve never tried it myself but I used to give clients mud wraps and seaweed wraps when I worked as a massage therapist in health retreats and everyone said it was amazingly relaxing as well as being great for your skin.

I had cranial sacral therapy once and it was so wonderful that I fell asleep during the treatment and felt so light afterwards. I’ve found Bowen therapy to be amazingly effective too.

    Caroline,
due to having an eating disorder I am very regimented with my food and when I eat. I am listening to my body more now and getting the confidence to eat nutritious food and the odd treat when my body needs to eat.

Great topic Laura! I will pick my ocean drum & just move it around however way I feel like it in that moment. It’s very soothing! TY

    Dear Laura,
Facial scrubs, self massage, fresh juicing, yoga, dance, drumming, art projects, and singing are all part of my routine. The strangest things I do are giving myself a full body oil and foot massage at night before bed!

    My speciality topic!
    ESC is my religion!
My daily practice is walking up a mountain every day..quiet, silent, active commune with nature and spirit. I make every meal a work of art. I live with the seasons, adjusting my sleep and creativity rhythms with natural cycles and I dress like a princess every day.

what a great reminder! I’ve been having awful allergy symptoms and not using my neti – but will try that this morning. One of the tools I like to pull out is EFT – I’ve also recently starting rebounding for 10 minutes a day and am finding that time to be quite therapuetic as well!

  22. Comment by Jaclyn

I love nothing time! I also enjoy reflexology….and as a shaman I find ways to clear my energy with the earth…I lay on the warm beach sand feeling supported by mother earth…she soaks up any heavy energy from me and I allow the wind sweep away my worries and the ocean sounds to cleanse my thoughts…then I download the codes for the new earth from the sun shining warmly on my face and skin.

  23. Comment by Stede

Self-talk is one if my most valuable exquisite self-care practices…looking into my eyes in the mirror and talking to myself with gentleness, kindness, thankfulness for all that I do, loving and support. I find this so nourishing…and I love movement, massage, long baths, and must-have NOTHING TIME!

    Dara,
would love to hear your drum. I rarely have music in my life as loving the silence. It would be nice to have your drumming this morning

melting in the sun, sweating in the sauna, giving and receiving Brennan energy healing, conversing with my soul through channeled drawings, caress my body with coconut oil, sleeping in :)

  27. Comment by Sharon

I sun gaze. First to fix my eyes. Then after a week or so it dawned on me that the earth and all creatures on it bow to the sun. The energy and strength I seem to be getting from this practice is amazing. I feel so grounded. I had a vision of the earth as she rotates her body around the sun so every part of her body can receive the loving warmth of this amazing being. It is the yin and the yan. I honor The sun as I now see it for 6 minutes ( time permitting I hope to increse this gradually ) of the first hour of sunrise. These six minutes are my favorite part of the day. I felt spring coming the birds starting to sing. I anyone to go of judgement and give it a try.

  28. Comment by Susan Hosken

    Sharon,
how do you sun gaze. what does it mean. to gaze at something usually means to look at but not possible to look at the sun. am curious

lots of love from susan JOY

  29. Comment by Sharon

Yes I look at the sun. I saw a youtube video on it and tried out of curiosity. I was open to the idea because I once knew an old man who at the time was in his late sixty. He mentions in passing how as a younger man he had read a book on correcting you eye sight by looking at the sun. He had tried it and it worked for him. This was about fifteen years ago, but it was one of the things I always remembered. I decided to give this practice a try because my eyes had deteriorated so much in the last while and I just love exploring life through magical eyes

As this practice must ONLY be done in the first hour on sunrise or sun set and you start of with just seconds building it up by 10 seconds a day. I tried it and to my surprise I LOVE it and not for my eyes. I cannot describe the power I have started to feel. It is subtitle but there. One thing is that I am able to meditate for about 40 minutes without a problem. This was not possible before as my mind would wonder.. Ah …I guess I could say I just feel more connected to the play of life on a grander scale. Blessings

    Sharon,
thanks so much for taking the time to answer me about sun gazing. I love learning new things. very fascinating. scared to try it myself. don’t want to damage my eyes. hard to see sunrise and sunset here in suburbia

my favorite exquisite self care practice is massaging my feet in the shower after I have washed them. I just feels so good and I feel closer to myself and that I am looking after myself.

hot yoga is a self care I love. Sometimes it is mentally challenging, but I have found bliss and ecstasy in there is well. The warm room leaves me feeling alive and free of aches and pains.
