Soul Art Intensive with Karen Knowler

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Soul Art Intensives are all about diving deep into the heart of your spirit and transforming your life and business into a work of art.

Karen Knowler, known as The Raw Food Coach, traveled from England to spend 2 full days creating in Soul Art studio. She boldly explored her inner world, and bravely let it flow through her.

Here is snapshot of Karen (right) and I after she completed her 7foot tall painting called
‘The Fire of Transformation’.

Creating on a big canvas is metaphoric for playing big in life. When your spirit has big dreams, you’ve got to have space to let them take shape. Karen is wildly creative and there are big things on the horizon for this raw foodie!

The studio was buzzing with creative energy the whole time.
Deep spiritual and creative work stirs up a lot of energy and it is important to really take care of yourself during these kinds of experiences.

We were blessed to have all our meals catered by the ultimate raw food chef Barbara Maccaroni from www.blove.ca. Now that I’ve experienced raw food at its best, I’m completely hooked!

We explored a full range of art mediums, including acrylic painting, pastel, pencil crayons and copper coiling.

The power of creating art is having a visual symbol of your own inner energy. When you can tangibly see what is happening within you it allows your subconscious mind to absorb the full depth of your spirit and ultimately claim its magnificence.

After all Soul Art sessions I always recommend putting the art somewhere it can be seen on a daily basis. This enables the magic of the art to take root in your life.

Karen is going to have to find the perfect spot in her English Country home to display her masterpiece so its power can fully integrate into her life.

Here are Karen’s words about her Soul Art Intensive:

Working with Laura was extraordinary as predicted!
I didn’t know exactly what to expect but knew that whatever
happened it would be perfect, and it was!
Her unique body mapping process brought insights and clarity
to me that were much needed and being able to come away
with a finished work of art that told my story was just brilliant.
I would recommend the intensive to anyone looking to really
go deep with themselves for profound growth and change

Clear Insights from the Rainbow Bird Shaman

A Shaman is someone who channels creative spiritual visions and insights for the health, wealth and inspiration of their tribe.

As a soul artist I feel like a Rainbow Bird Shaman, channeling creative spiritual visions and insights for my tribe (YOU!), with the purpose of guiding you to be who you dream of being with full empowerment.

While on a hike I channeled this message for you….

Right now there is a gust of energy sweeping through the earth. It is a pregnant call for a New Paradigm.

As a creative spiritual person you will be especially sensitive to this call. You’ll know this is you because you will feel a passionate need to know your purpose and make it your life’s work. You will feel inspired to discover and express your unique creative gifts and find ways to connect them with the world.

The leaders of the New Paradigm are those who trust their spirit, follow their heart, and create tangible ways to connect their gifts with people.

The very act of following your heart will take you into an unknown territory. This unknown territory is the land of the New Paradigm. Your compass through this land is the vision of your True Dream.

Now is the time to clarify your True Dream.

Money Spirit Guide

I’m leading a free teleclass called:
How to follow your Heart & make Money$
3 Simple Steps you can take to increase your income immediately
You can sign up here

Let me share with you how it all began….

Years ago when I was beginning my journey as a soul artist, I struggled financially. Even though my inner world was rich with creativity and abundant with imagination I couldn’t figure out how to create the same kind of wealth in my material world. I was buying into ‘the starving artist’ stereotype and deeply unhappy about it. I would cry to myself because I felt it was so unfair to have genius ideas channeling through me and not have the funds to make them a reality.

I reached a point where I was washing dishes for my friend as payment for eating dinner there. (ouch!)

Finally I asked myself the obvious question~ If I could channel genius creative ideas and visions, why not channel a creative solution to the money mystery?

So I decided to create a ‘Money Spirit Guide’ as a way to receive some financial guidance. I started thinking about what I could include in a ‘Money Spirit Guide’ which led me to gather up all kinds of symbols, fabrics and objects that expressed financial wealth to me. Then I designed and created a costume to express the energy of my ‘Money Spirit Guide’ (she even has actual money in her costume).

Money Spirit Guide

When I completed the costume I felt like I had birthed my ‘Money Spirit Guide’ and she was ready to communicate with me. I asked her:
“What can you tell me about money?”

Here are the 9 things my Money Spirit Guide told me….

1. Stand tall and proud like you are Royalty.

2. Connect with your roots. Even though you are reaching for what you want stay connected to the ground.

3. Be beautiful. Don’t be beautiful the way others are beautiful, be beautiful the way you are beautiful.

4. Include all your life experiences into your wealth.

5. Be willing to be seen and recognized.

6. Heal the fears that separate you from the world.

7. Receive the gifts that have been given to you.

8. Lead by carving your own path.

9. Let your heart be your leader.

This was the beginning of an in-depth conversation with my Money Spirit Guide. Now, years later she has guided me to be a full time THRIVING Soul Artist. Many of my clients & students ask me ‘How do I do it? How am I able to follow my heart and make money?”

Now I am ready to share how I transitioned from Starving artist to Thriving Soul Artist and how you can do it too.

Spring Cleaning for your Inner World

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

It’s springtime here in Canada and I’m in the midst of a BIG Spring studio cleaning, which has evolved into a week long project!

It was easy to tell that my studio environment needed a cleaning because it was starting to build up with art, supplies, journals and ideas.

Our Inner World needs to be cleaned too, but it has different ways of letting us know when it is due for a sweep. Do you know how to tell when your Inner World is begging for a cleanse?

These are some quick clues for knowing when your Inner World is clogged up:
~ You feel unclear
~ You feel frustrated and anxious about life
~ You feel overwhelmed by everything
~ You aren’t having fun with life

Recently I led a group of Soul Artists through a 21 day Creativity Cleanse and discovered the 3 guaranteed ways to unclog your energy and start flowing again! Keep reading to find out what they are….

Here are some of the art pieces created during the Creativity Cleanse.

Creativity Cleanse

3 Guaranteed ways to unclog your energy and start flowing again!

1. Connect with your Inner World. Your inner world gives you access to Divine Guidance. If you are disconnected from your Inner World you won’t know what direction to take. Connecting with your Inner World starts by listening to the subtleties of your own energy. By being actively interested and engaged in how you think and feel will connect you with your Inner World.

2. Do something creative. There is nothing like creative energy to flush out the system and increase your joy! Creative energy gives you a direct line to Source energy, which is pure energy. As creative energy moves through you, it leaves a clean trail for more and more joy to come into your life.

3. Know what is important to your Spirit. Take the time to find out what is truly important to your spirit. When you know what is truly important to your spirit it is easy to design a life that matches your natural rhythm and desires. When you know what is truly important, your spirit becomes the filter for everything in your life.

Are you ready to unclog your system and get your energy flowing again?

Create Yourself as your Iconic Trait

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

I believe our spiritual purpose on earth is to create ourselves as the full embodied expression of our spirit. Those who do this with totality radiate with a magnetic presence, it is undeniable.

Everyone has a unique inner spirit essence. When you express your unique inner spirit essence you activate your Iconic Trait and put your true path in motion.

When you travel down deep into your spirit, you’ll find that one of the deepest desires is to BE your Iconic Trait.
In fact you are designed to be it, but it does require a bit of physical, spiritual and creative work (or I like to think of it as play!).

This is the journey of creating yourself as your Iconic Trait.
The beginning of this journey starts with knowing what your Iconic Trait is!
If you want to discover yours, you can listen to this FREE audio called ‘Discover Your Iconic Trait’

Once you know and understand your unique Iconic Trait, then you are ready to consciously take the journey to ‘Create Yourself’.

To stir up the energy of few creative sports joined me to re-create one of Jackson Pollock’s Iconic Masterpieces. Hope this inspires you to explore your own Iconic Trait and begin the journey to ‘Create Yourself’.

Are you ready to start your ‘Create Yourself’ Soul Art journey today and step into your Iconic Trait?

Holistic Soul Art Living

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Soul Art is about creating your whole life as an expression of your spirit. This is a holistic art form, where everything becomes part of your soul’s expression.
On a recent trip to the grocery store I share two characteristics for how you can live your spirit.

You’ll be surprised where inspiration can come from when you are living your spirit.

The art of living your spirit is a lifestyle where the expression of your spirit is your art. I call this Soul Art.

Tribal Manifesting Tricks

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

I stumbled upon the Tribal Manifesting Tricks while dancing around my studio one day.  As I danced, I felt my body asking “What is the most powerful next step I can take in my life?”

dance1dance2dance3

Then almost magically I had a clear insight pop into my head and I stopped my dance and I ran to find my sketchbook so I could write it down.

When I finished recording the guidance I wondered how I manifested such a speedy and clear response to my request?

Then I remembered all the research I had done on Tribal Art.

Did you know that in ancient tribal cultures their version of art is actually their offerings to spirit. For example, when they wanted rain they would create a mask and a dance that would stir up the energy of rain.  When they wanted healing they would create something as an offering to spirit for their healing. Their art was their way to communicate with spirit.

From a modern perspective you could say they created art in order to have a relationship with spirit so they could manifest the results they wanted.

This is actually the premise of Soul Art. It is the process of creating art as a tool to connect and communicate with spirit in order to live the life you want.

So why not put these Tribal Manifesting Tricks to work for you right now!

Here are the clear steps….

1. Be clear about what you want. If you are going to ask for something you need to know clearly what that is. For example, when they were creating the rain dance, they knew they wanted rain.

2. Do something creative. Once you’ve clarified what you want, stir your energy up by doing something creative. Make something that expresses what you want, dance with the energy of what you want.

3. Be open to receive guidance from spirit.

Enjoy!

Romancing the Spirit

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

There is something so intoxicating about being in connection with the Divine.  When it happens it can feel like a passionate Love Affair that washes over you like a storm, or it can feel like a Mystical Union that puts everything into perspective with a deep sense of peace.

Whatever it is, I shape my life around these moments and exercise my spiritual awareness so that I can deepen the potential for these experiences.

Being a Soul Artist is the practice of connecting with the Divine through art and creative expression.

During this past week I coloured a bunch of Mandala’s while meditating on my spirit.

While I was choosing the colours and selecting the arrangements I felt like I was romancing my spirit. With every motion I was inviting my spirit to speak with me and dazzle me with insights and guidance for my life.

mandala1 mandala2

I did receive a harvest of insights from this creative process. One of them was a list of 21 ways that you can romance your spirit to speak with you.

Dream it…DO IT!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

If I was to tally up all the wild ideas that flow through me on a daily basis, it would probably be in the 1,000’s!

Of course I can’t birth every single idea, but I can select the ones that juice me up the most and make them a priority.

This is my daily practice, I go through all the ideas I have and I decide which ones will make it to full realization. Once I’ve decided I put things in motion for it to happen.

One of the themes I explore frequently is my relationship with birds and trees. Do you remember when I turned into a tree last year….

This year I wanted to try another way to become a tree with birds.

I wondered if I could be painted as a tree?

I approached body painter and makeup artist Sue Upton and asked if she could body paint a tree and bird on and around me, and she enthusiastically said “Yes!”

Then I talked over the idea with my favourite collaborator photographer Kevin Thom and the idea appealed to him too.

So, with all the team players in place, we were ready to make it happen.

Here is a shot of the process of being body painted.

Being half naked in the middle of November in Canada for hours isn’t exactly the most comfortable experience, but that is what it took to realize the vision.

Something I’ve learned from all the different creative projects I’ve been part of, birthing a dream isn’t always comfortable, in fact it can sometimes be out right uncomfortable. But when the vision is clear it is all worth it.

Here is the final image from this creative adventure…..

Being an artist is all about dreaming it and doing it!

I’d love to hear what you think about this piece….

expressing spirit through creative costumes

Creating costumes and masks offers the profound opportunity to explore the inner yearnings of spirit. These costumes and masks are examples of my spirit expression, which I refer to as characters from the Mythology of the Inner World.
