Making the nü Icon Movie

Sunday, November 23rd, 2014

The nü Icon Movie was in creative process for close to a year. To create the stunning images you see throughout the movie I worked with photographer Kevin Thom. We traveled across Canada to the rainforest in British Columbia to immerse ourselves in nature. We also filmed a number of scenes in the Conversation parks in my hometown Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

To create this year’s nü Icon Movie I did dozens of solo shots along with leading two group nü Icon Intensives. Many of the solo shots included elaborate hair, makeup, headpieces, costumes and set elements.  My studio was brimming with Iconic Essence art all year!

nü Icon Intensive

The first nü Icon Intensive started with 7 of the nü Icons from my current nü Icon Program.  Almost every continent was represented with people from across Canada, USA, Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand, a true Rainbow Tribe!

Everyone had their moment in the spotlight to shine their unique Iconic Essence. It was beautiful to witness.

After working together for close to a year, in the nü Icon Program, we had formed such a Soul Family bond. Being together in person left such a loving imprint on my soul, I will never forget the profound magic we experienced together!

Rainbow Dragon nü Icons

The second nü Icon Intensive was with creative spiritual entrepreneurs that I’ve been on the journey with for some time. We’ve all been riding the dragon for a number of years weaving our magic in the world.

nü Icon portal creation process

During our Intensive we created portals to open space for the next level of our unique expression and business success. There was a glorious feeling of resting into the feeling of being met by others who understand the entrepreneurial path with all its challenges and ecstatic opportunities. There is something so invigorating and peaceful about being with people who ‘get it’.

Check out our behind the scenes creative process.

nü Icon Singing Circle

All of the singing you hear in the nü Icon Movie was recorded during our Intensive. Then Kevin Thom produced our sounds into the music you hear throughout the movie.

See our behind the scenes music creation and sound healing sessions for the nü Icon Movie here.

Making Rainbow Canoe
There were lots of behind the scenes creations for costumes, headpieces, set elements, planing meetings and the biggest construction project was creating the Rainbow Feathered Canoe.

Recreating Masterpieces

Sunday, October 26th, 2014

The journey to discover my own Iconic Essence started while I was studying art. I became intrigued by the masterpieces and iconic works of art from the past. I wondered, “What made them masterpieces?”, “What made them Iconic?”, “Can everyone be Iconic?”.

The questions set me off on a quest to recreate masterpieces as a way to find out and truly understand the architecture of an iconic creation.

I started with Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’…

nu-master-venus

Embodying Venus was a powerful experience of claiming my own femininity and allowing my body to be seen.  To create the shells I gathered up my old canvases and transformed them into cones. Inside each of those cones is a painting, a story from my journey as an artist.  It felt as if the art of my past was ready to carry me into the future and help me birth my next vision.

nu-master-mona

Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’ was an obvious masterpiece that I wanted to explore. The most recognizable aspects of this painting are the smile and the eyes. But, it was actually the environment that became the focus for me when I recreated it. It was quite a process to find the perfect subdued space with the winding curved path in the background. My appreciation for space and the role the  environment plays in the overall feel of a piece grew through this recreation.

nu-master-frida

I have so much respect for Frida Kahlo.  She was first recognized artist who used herself as the subject of her art. Now with social media this concept is mainstream, but at the time it was revolutionary. The roots of Art Therapy are in the work of Frida Kahlo.

In the process of recreating one of Frida’s pieces I wanted to include her trademark eyebrow, of course, and it was the composition of the art that became the focus.  She is always the center focus of her art, which communicates her willingness to see herself as the art and put herself clearly in the center.  Recreating this helped me to see the importance of claiming space for myself and unabashedly viewing myself as the subject of my art.

nu-master-picasso

Picasso’s ‘Les Demoiselles D’Avignon’ is an Iconic Cubist creation.  Recreating this piece was so much fun because it cut up the ideas of traditional beauty and made room for a more unusual vision of reality to come through.  Traditionally symmetry, balance and correct proportions drove most art before Picasso. He paved a way for a completely nü idea of reality to come through.

nu-master-pollock

Jackson Pollock’s uninhibited freedom of expression challenged me to bare it all. I started this recreation in the nude, as if I was a blank canvas, and asked a group of friends to paint me. The experience completely transformed me as I felt the total release of judgment and expectation of what something should be and truly let it be what it is.

nu-master-lict

Lichtenstein’s comic style pop art was the most challenging for me. I had to dig in deep to find an emotional barbie-like seductress to pull this off. I resisted this one the most because I  didn’t understand why it was iconic. Then I realized that an iconic work of art has a few qualities:

1) It clearly expresses and reflects the essence of the artist, or the artists vision.

2) It taps into a bigger essence that resonates with many people.

3) It captures the crystallized vision of the point in time when it was originally created.

4) It goes beyond a trend and creates a timeless space where no matter when you experience it, it still holds a potent transmission.

5) It opens a portal of possibility for generations to come.

6) It is art, in it’s purest sense, which is the co-creation with the divine.

Exploring the Iconic creations of others artists just wet my appetite for exploring my own Iconic Expression and guiding others to do the same.

Hollywood Hike

Sunday, October 20th, 2013

I was in Hollywood this past week presenting nü Icon: The Movie at Christina Morassi’s Ecstatic Wealth Event. It was an absolutely stellar event with bursting moments of ecstasy!

In the land of celebrity, fame and star power it was an exceptional place to guide a Vision Quest. It was as if a portal had opened up between the real world and the imagined world and we could create the life of our dreams.

Christina Morassi created such a sacred space with her Star Power Activating Genius.  I felt so honored to be part of her stellar event and witness her incredible ability to light up a stage like a Rockstar and lead with effortless power.

5 of the nü Icons featured in the movie joined me on stage, in rainbow order, Jena LaFlamme, Ariel White, Christina Morassi, Renee Airya and Ali Shanti, to share a glimpse into their own Iconic Essence. You’ll have to watch the movie to get the full story.

I wore a dress made entirely of white feathers to express a visual wing to guide everyone on their sacred journey to discover who they really came her to be.

The inner landscape is vast and rich. The experience confirmed for me that our Iconic Essence starts within and effortlessly blossoms out in the world when we claim the true desire that dwells in our spirit.

I was so moved by all the people who came up to me after to personally thank me and share parts of their Iconic Essence.

After the event I wanted to find a place in nature to reflect and listen for more insights.

I discovered a trail to the Iconic Hollywood sign, which seemed like the perfect place to anchor in the magical insights.
